Entries are now being taken for the Shropshire Open individual, a 7 round swiss over the board tournament played throughout the season with the winner crowned Shropshire Champion. Entries are now being taken for the Shropshire Minor Individual, a 7 round swiss over the board tournament played throughout the season, limited to Shropshire players rated 1640 or under based on the August 2024 ratings. Further details and entry instructions can be found here. Deadline for entries 29 September.

Newport player Ian Jamieson has been chosen as the winner of the 2023-24 Colin Roberts Memorial Trophy, with judges unanimously picking his spectacular queen sacrifice game against Daniel Lockett.
