Judges have now chosen the winner of the 2022-23 Colin Roberts Memorial Trophy from a total of eight entries. The trophy is a brilliancy prize for the best game played by a Shropshire player during the season. The result will be announced at the start of the new season and arrangements made to present the trophy.
The judges were impressed with the standard of the entries, proving once again that Shropshire, with a relatively small population, punches above its weight in the chess world. The judges hope to receive a similar standard of entry for the 2023 to 2024 season.
