  1. General Data Protection regulations
  2. Election of Officers - Glyn Pugh is standing down as General Secretary (there is a new candidate willing to stand), Junior organiser is vacant                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       There are several proposals that are linked – Juniors/time controls/promotion
  3. Proposals - junior team definitions – Chris Lewis (see separate document)
  4.  Proposal - Under the title of TEAMS add a point (f): " In the event of a Junior team being entered into the League, or any of the associated Shropshire Chess competitions, then the Junior Team is defined as one in which the majority of the team are Juniors, as defined by the English Chess Federation." – M Clarke/A. Holmes/D.Bonner
  5. Proposal - promotion and relegation within the Shropshire Chess League be one up and one down. This is to reflect the reality of a league reduced in size. - K.Tabner
  6. Proposals – Nat Pauls clarification/rewording of league rules/ promotion
  7. Time control proposal change: - Where a digital clock is available, the time control shall be all moves in 1 hour and 25 minutes plus an increment of 10 seconds per move from move 1. If a digital clock is not available, then the time control shall be 1 hour and 35 minutes for the whole game in accordance with the ECF rules for quickplay finishes.  N Rutter The proposed 10 second per move increment together with a reduction of 10 minutes in the overall time is a relatively minor change, and is broadly equivalent to current time controls. The main benefit of the change is that 10 seconds should always be sufficient time to make a move and avoid the time scrambles. I am making this proposal to prevent the problem that occurs when one player runs too short of time to complete the game. This often results in the loss of an equal position or in some cases with a player playing to win “on time”. Although the ECF rules try to prevent this by allowing a claim of a draw under the 2 minute rule, it is very difficult to claim in practice without an experienced arbiter present.
