2016 Newport Summer Simultaneous

Event Organiser: Nat Paul
Date & Venue: Tuesday 9 th August, Royal British Legion, Newport
Start Time: Aim to attend by 19:30
Entry Fee: £3 - to cover costs for buffet, drinks will be supplied at the bar

Newport Chess Club will be holding a fun and exciting simultaneous. Similar to previous events, the simultaneous will be given by three players in order to cause maximum confusion and excitement, not only for the spectators, but also for the players carrying out the event. This summer, these individuals will solely be Newport players, as well as being three members of Newport A's victorious Division 1 Championship winning squad: Ten times Shropshire Champion, Nick Rutter and joint 4NCL captains, Nat Paul & Chris Lewis . A fantastic buffet will also be supplied, and at a really cheap and reasonable price. I am confident that the great food will encourage even greater chess!

Rules

1. Standard Chess Rules Apply
2. The 3 Newport players giving the simultaneous cannot confer
3. These 3 players will have white on all boards
4. Each of the 3 players will complete a circuit of the simultaneous one at a time. This will remain so until later on in the event to ensure that it is completed on time. This also guarantees excitement levels to increase as the event draws to its conclusion, as all players then have to move that bit faster.
5. Receiving players must only move once one of the 3 players comes to their board . When this occurs the receiver makes their move followed by one of Rutter, Paul or Lewis.
6. Receiving players are allowed two passes. A pass is used when a player needs more time to analyse the position and decide upon their move.

On behalf of Newport Chess Club, I warmly welcome all players, of any chess ability, to attend this event as it will most definitely be fun, exciting and full of good grub! Hopefully see many Shropshire Chess players then.

Kind Regards,
